Our Friends in Iceland

(Dan
traveled to Iceland in April 2005)
The Icelandic Christ-Church, led
by the pastoral team of Fridrik & Villa Schramm, provides a healthy model for
renewal-minded churches that face the challenges of living in a Lutheran state
church culture. After years of faithfully trying to affect change within the
system, God led them to start an alternative work which is charismatic and
evangelical, yet retains its overall Lutheran identity. At the same time, they
have maintained a good relationship with the state church.
We are currently in dialog with
them regarding the future formation of an ARC International Network. ARC,
Int'l. would connect networks around the world that have a Lutheran history
and would value being connected with other Kingdom-minded churches.
The Master's Institute is also
welcoming one of this church's young leaders, Agust Olafsson, to be a part of
the seminary program in St. Paul, Minnesota. Agust, along his wife Kolbrun and
their two children, will be moving here in August.
The church has also recently
purchased and remodeled a beautiful new ministry center in one of the fastest
growing areas of Reykjavik, the capital city of this island country of
300,000.
We are excited to stand with this
vital congregation as the Lord leads them into a bright future of doing
Kingdom ministry in beautiful Iceland.
