to Dr. Morris
Vaagenes
Thank You Morris!
On September 26, 2002 the Lutheran
Renewal Board of Directors received a letter of resignation from Dr. Morris
Vaagenes, which it accepted with regret but also with great gratitude. The
Board expressed its thanks to Morris and Bonnie that evening with a variety of
tributes. Morris was honored for his leadership at North Heights Lutheran,
building it up into a major center of renewal. He was also honored for his
character-his humility, his courage, his kindness (always seeking out those
ignored by others), his heart of mercy. It would be hard to overestimate the
contribution that Morris has made to the ministry of Lutheran Renewal. He
served on the Board from the beginning, longer than anyone else. He
represented it by traveling in the States and abroad, speaking at churches and
conferences.
Morris is cutting back on some of
his commitments in order to focus on some specific areas of ministry which
includes the writing of the North Heights story. This is a book that waits to
be written.
Thank you, Morris, for your
commitment to the Gospel, for never missing a chance to share the Good News,
for maintaining Scriptural balance, for touching all ages with your love and
compassion, for noticing us, for walking in meekness, for giving the credit to
the Lord that you have served for so many years, and for always reminding us
that He could use us as well. We won't forget you! You will be in our prayers
as you continue to serve with the same intensity that we have observed down
through the years.
You have work to do, and we bless
you in it.
